Hello, I’m Liane

You're good at just getting on with it. Until you're not.

A lot of the people I work with have been there. Never quite having the space, or maybe even the words, to work out what's actually going on inside. That's OK. Not knowing is a perfectly good place to start. We find the language together.

I've spent nearly twenty years teaching in schools. Reading the room, understanding where people are, where they want to go and what they need to move forward. Therapy felt like the natural next step: the same instinct, with space and time to explore what's underneath. Accompanying someone to the most vulnerable parts of themselves, and witnessing what becomes possible from there, is a privilege I hope I never fully get used to.

How I work

I work integratively, drawing predominantly from psychodynamic and person-centred approaches, adapting to what you actually need. I'm interested in the relational patterns we develop early in life as survival mechanisms, often without realising it, which may no longer be serving us.

I work relationally, which means the relationship between us is where the work comes alive. How you are with me in the room often reflects how you are with people in the rest of your life. There are moments in a session when both of us may need to be brave. I might offer an image, a feeling or a connection which has surfaced for me, not knowing quite how you'll receive it. When it lands and you take it further than either of us expected, that's often where real change becomes possible. We explore together at your pace, your priorities. I'm not the expert on your life — you are.

Background and training

I hold a BSc in Psychology and an MA in Education, and I'm completing a postgraduate diploma in integrative psychotherapy and counselling. I've spent nearly two decades teaching A Level Psychology. My curiosity about people goes back a long way.

I work under regular supervision, and personal therapy has been part of my training and ongoing development as a practitioner. Both ensure our work together stays safe and ethical.

I'll be welcoming private clients from Summer 2027, from a purpose-built garden room in Addiscombe, South London, and online.
