It's just a conversation. Informal, no pressure, no commitment. We'll talk briefly about what's brought you to therapy and what you're hoping to get from it, and you'll get a sense of how I work and whether I feel like the right fit. There's nothing to prepare. If it doesn't feel right, that's completely fine. Finding the right therapist matters more than booking with the first one you speak to.

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other a little and for me to understand more about what's going on for you. I'll ask some questions, but there's no fixed agenda. We go at your pace. You don't need to have your story perfectly formed or know exactly what you want to work on.

Individual sessions are £75 for 50 minutes. I offer a reduced rate of £60 for trainee therapists. Relationship therapy is £90 for 50 minutes. The initial 20 minute introductory call is free and carries no obligation to book.

That's more common than you might think, and it's absolutely fine. You don't need to arrive with a clear problem or a prepared speech. Sometimes the most useful place to start is simply: "I'm not sure where to start." We'll find our way in together. Part of what I do is help people who don't yet have words for what they're feeling find a language for it.

Honestly, the most reliable way to find out is to have a conversation. The free 20 minute call exists precisely for this. It's a chance for you to get a feel for how I work and whether something clicks. The relationship between therapist and client is central to good therapy, so it's worth taking the time to find someone you feel comfortable with. If I'm not the right fit, I'll do my best to point you in the right direction.

It depends on what you're bringing and what you're hoping for. Some people come for a focused piece of work and are ready to finish after a few weeks or months. Others find they want to go deeper and we will work together for longer. I work in an open-ended way, rather than to a fixed number of sessions. We review how things are going periodically and you're always free to finish when it feels right. There's no pressure to stay longer than is useful.

Initially we will meet for weekly sessions, which gives the work consistency and a rhythm that tends to be most effective early on. Later on in the work, some clients choose to come fortnightly. There may also be times when things feel particularly full-on, and coming more than once a week for a while can help. That's not unusual, and I'll always do what I can to accommodate it. It's rarely a long-term shift, just extra support while you need it. We'd agree what works best for you as we go.

Integrative therapy means I don't follow a single fixed method. I draw on different therapeutic traditions depending on what each person actually needs. I work primarily from the relational-psychodynamic approach, which is interested in patterns: where they come from, how they show up in your life now, and what it takes to shift them. I work in a person-centred way which means the work is led by you: Your pace, your priorities, your experience. I adapt to what's useful rather than fitting you into a framework.

Yes. Everything you share in our sessions is confidential. I won't contact your GP, employer, or anyone else without your knowledge and consent. The only exceptions are situations where there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else. In those rare circumstances I have a professional and ethical duty to act. I'll always be transparent with you about confidentiality and its limits from the start, so there are no surprises.

I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, registered with BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). This means I work within a clear ethical framework and am committed to ongoing professional development. I work under regular supervision, and personal therapy has been part of my training and ongoing development as a practitioner. Both ensure our work together stays safe and ethical, creating the conditions for real depth and lasting change.
